Abstract

Influenza A pandemic H1/09 virus continues to rapidly spread worldwide. In 2015, pandemic H1/09 infection in a domestic cat from Northern China diagnosed by hemagglutination inhibition (HI) test and microneutralization (MN) assays. The aim of this study is to detect the presence of antibody pandemic influenza A/H1-09 virus on stray cats (Felis sp.) in east java. Serum of stray cats (Felis sp.) samples were collected from several part of Surabaya (Tambak Rejo Market, Keputran Market, Wonokromo Market and Karangmenjangan Market), Lamongan (Poultry Slaughterhouse of Lamongan and Turi village), Gresik (from Sidomoro and new market of gresik) and Sidoarjo (Larangan and Krian Market ). One hundred serum samples were tested using HI test to screened for the presence of antibody to H1/09. HI test was positive when inhibition of hemagglutination was shown, that was signed by unagglutinated, sedimented erythrocytes on the base of microplate’s wells. The result showed that from one hundred samples, there was twenty eight samples had Influenza A pandemic H1/09 virus.
