Abstract

Vaginitis is an inflammation of the vaginal lining. Vaginal infections can occur at every stage of a woman's life. It is usually caused by poor hygienic, poor nutrition, wearing tight pants, humidity of vagina, use of vaginal cleansing, hormonal changes, use of antibiotic and drugs which can change flora Normal of vagina. The purpose of this study was to determined the correlation between knowledge about vaginitis and individual hygienic behavior in adolescent in Surabaya. This study was designed analytic cross-sectional. The population in this study was 396 female students from class X and XI in SMAN 04 Surabaya. Samples were taken by using Stratified Random Sampling. Data was obtained by method using questionnaire and analyzed by spearman test. Eighty eight respondents were included in this study. Most of respondents had enough knowledge (63,6%), followed by good knowledge (19,3%) and poor knowledge (17%). Most of respondents had enough personal hygienic behavior (62,5%), followed by good personal hygienic behavior (22,7%) and poor personal hygienic behavior (14,8%). Statistical analysis shown that there was a significant correlation between level of knowledge and personal hygienic behavior (p= 0,000, rs = 0,789) The conclusion of this study, there was correlation between knowledge of vaginitis with individual hygienic.
