Abstract

Childhood is a precious time to observe the child development, because at this time child has much time longer to learn many variety of developmental skills. Plaything is one way to stimulate child development, like educational toys. Educational toys is a plaything that could optimize child development in their development stage and age. This study was analytical observational method with cross sectional approached. The population in this study were mother who have child in age range between 3 -5 years old and have plaything in kindergarten in working area of Puskesmas Tambakrejo Surabaya were 96 mothers and children selected by cluster sampling based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data analysis conduct by correlation analysis to seek relationship used Spearman rank correlation analysis. The result of this research showed that 94,9% mothers with good knowledge about educational toys had a child with appropriate developmet. The analysis results were obtained p (0.028) < 0,05, which means there was correlation between mother’s knowledge about educational toys and child development
