Abstract

Harian Pagi Surya is a daily newspaper that has been exist since 1989. It is a regional newspaper which provides general news such as city news, national news, international news, business and economics, sports and also feature stories which are distributed mostly around Surabaya. Besides making the newspaper in printed edition, Harian Pagi Surya also have the online edition, so, that readers who wants to know the news outside the printed edition can access it through the websites on http://www.surya.co.id or http://surabaya.tribunnews.com. The target readers of Harian Pagi Surya are from lower class until middle class. The writer did the internship as a journalist in making feature stories at Harian Pagi Surya for five weeks, from 30th March 2017 until 05th March 2017. As a journalist in making feature stories, the writer had to search the informants, interviewing them and ask for some photos to be load in the article. She had to make a list of questions depended on the topic that given from the writer’s supervisor before interviewing the informants. After that, she had to write the story from the interview. The writer worked outside the office and met different person every day. During the internship at Harian Pagi Surya, the writer had got many useful experiences. She learned a lot about journalism rules which she had never been learned before, how to write a good story, and how she should act as aprofessional when she was interviewing the informants. Not only the writer learned about journalism, but she also learned to improve the soft skill such as writing, communicating, networking and time management. It was a valuable opportunity for the writer to do internship at Harian Pagi Surya. Hopefully the writer can use her experience after she graduates especially when she gets a job.
