Abstract

Hypertension is one of the chronic diseases that occurs during pregnancy.Itcan be harmful for mother's kidneys and other organs, and also can cause the low birth weight for the baby and premature delivery. Medication non-adherence is still a great concern particulary in pregnant women with chronic diseases. This study was aimed to identify medication adherence in pregnant women with hypertension. A cross sectional study using accidental sampling was conducted. The measurement of adherence was performed usingadherence to refills and medication scale (ARMS) questionnaire. Descriptive analysis was performed using SPSS ver. 23. From 492 pregnant women recruited in this study, there were 17 (3.5%) respondents with hypertension. All pregnant women with hypertension in this research did not adhere to their medication regimens. The role of pharmacists in pharmaceutical services medication should be established appropriatelyto monitor and detect low adherence in pregnant woman.Counseling, and education regarding medication use should be improved to minimize the non-adherence in pregnant women with hypertension.
