Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of sodium lauryl sulfate 0,5% and 2,5% as a surfactant and PVP K-30 0,5% and 5% as a binder on the physical quality (hardness, friability, disintegration time) and dissolution of paracetamol tablets made by wet granulation. Tablets were made containing 500 mg paracetamol and compressed at 1 ton by hydraulic press. Tablets were evaluated for hardness, friability, disintegration time and dissolution. The result showed that mechanical strength of the tablet containing PVP K-30 5% was better than the tablet containing PVP K-30 0,5%. The friability of all formulas were more than 1%, disintegration time were less 15 minutes, and percent dissolved within 30 minutes were more than 80%, except for first formula.
