Abstract

Cervical cancer is malignant tumors caused by infection of Human papilloma virus (HPV). Cervical cancer can cause pain by growing into or destroying tissue near the cancer and as a result of direct or indirect therapy. Codeine and paracetamol are analgesics recommended by World Health Organization (WHO) to relieve mild to moderate pain. This study aimed to analyze the utilization of codeine and paracetamol, including dose regimentation and also to describe their potential and actual drug related problems (DRPs). Data was collected with time limited sampling and retrospective method in the periode January 2016 until Agustus 2016. In this study, there were 96 patients who met the inclusion criteria.The result showed that codeine and paracetamol are given every 4 hours until 6 hours with variated dosage (20-240 mg/day) in each patient.There were 35.45% of patient experience the adverse effects of codein and paracetamol. Actual adverse effects that identified were constipation (57.27%), nausea (29.92%), vomiting (5.98%), diarrhea (2.56%) and anorexia (4.27%).
