Abstract

Carboxymethyl chitosan and curcumin has been shown to have wound healing activity. In order to find innovative ways for administering carboxymethyl chitosan and curcumin, alternative delivery system such as hydrogel dressing has been developed. The aim of this study was to observe the effect of carboxymethyl chitosan concentration on physical characteristic of carboxymethyl chitosancurcumin hydrogel and physical stability during 30 days of storage. The addition of carboxymethyl chitosan at a concentration of 0%; 0.5%; 1% ; and 2% showed that effect on physical characteristic of hydrogel carboxymethyl chitosan-curcumin ie organoleptic dosage consisting of odor and color, and decreasing pH value and viscosity; but does not have a significant effect on all carboxymethyl chitosan-curcumin hydrogel which spreading ability and drying speed as wound healing. Carboxymethyl chitosancurcumin hydrogel preparation in carbomer base with different of carboxymethyl chitosan concentration of 0%; 0.5%; 1%; and 2% stable in physical stability, indicated by organoleptic, viscosity, pH change, spreading ability, and drying rate for 30 days of storage.
