Abstract

Plasmodium that live and multiply in human red blood cells and transmitted through the bite of a female mosquito Anopheles spp. Malaria is a disease that life threatening in the tropics and sub-tropics areas. Indonesia is one of the countries with high malaria cases in East Java areas. There are four regions those incidence rate of malaria remains high. The purpose of this study was to find out the fauna of genus Anopheles in rural districts of Salamwates village Dongko subdistrict Trenggalek district. Methods: This study was an observational analytic research by using specimen of adult mosquitos. The mosquitos were caught by means of indoor net trapping and cow baited net trapping started at 18.45 to 24.00 for six catching times Result: By using outdoor cow baited net trapping has found 61 mosquitos from seven different species contained of An. aconitus, An. annularis, An. barbirostris, An. indefinitus, An. kochi, and An. vagus. The highest distribution of Anopheles mosquitos was at 18:45 to 19:00 were 16 mosquitos (26,22%) and the lowest was at 20:45 to 21:00 were six mosquitos (9,84%). The highest frequency of Anopheles species was An. barbirostris found at any time of catching and the highest number of this species was at 18.45-19.00, while the lowest one was An. tesselatus that found at 18:45 to 19:00. The highest number of species that caught during the research was 24 mosquitos of An. barbirostris, while the lowest one was two mosquitos of An. annularis. By using indoor net trapping, it was found only one species An. indefinitus at 19.00-19.45 Conclusion: An. barbirostris as the most often caught mosquito was zoophilic, while An. indefinitus was the only spesies of anthropozoophilic mosquito and suspected as malaria vector because it was caught with indoor human bait trap.
