Abstract

Background: One in eight women in the world are threatened with breast cancer. The incidence of breast cancer increases with age. Breast cancer in women under 40 tend to grow more progressive, more aggressive, and often found already at an advanced stage. Methods: This was a cross sectional descriptive study which done to describe the number of events, histological subtype, and clinical stage of breast carcinoma in young women. Results: Of the 136 cases of breast malignancy in young women, found 84 cases (61.76%) with breast carcinoma. Most of them are ages 35-39 years (67.9%). Invasive ductal carcinoma is the most common histological subtype (86.9%). Stage IIIB is the most common (44%), the most common status of tumor is T4b (38.1%), the highest lymph nodes status is N1 (34.5%), and the status of evidently known metastases (M1) is amounted to 25%. Conclusion: Based on the results, this study shows that breast carcinoma in young women is more aggressive and progressive. Therefore, there should be early detection in young women so that the incidence and impact of breast cancer at a young age can be suppressed.
