Abstract
Introduction: Chronic tonsillitis is a disease that most occur among diseases of the throat. This disease occurs because of the continued attacks on the tonsils have inflamed previously caused by viruses or bacteria. Tonsillectomy is a surgery as operative therapy of chronic tonsillitis. The purpose of this study was to determine the profile of chronic tonsillitis patients with tonsillectomy in department / SMF THT*KL FK Unair/Dr. Soetomo Hospital Surabaya. Methods: This research is retrospective*descriptive study that observe chronic tonsillitis patient with tonsillectomy in department / SMF THT*KL FK Unair*Dr. Soetomo. Hospital Surabaya in period of January 2011 to December 2015. This is a total sampling research by gathering secondary data via medical records and continued with data tabulation and analysis descriptively. Result : From the total of 110 samples it was found that the age range most often occurs in the case of patients with chronic tonsillitis with tonsillectomy in department / SMF THT*KL FK Unair*Dr. Soetomo Hospital Surabaya is a group of adolescents (32.73%), most of patients are women (53.64%), the main complaint most occurs is pain when swallowing (49.09%), most clinical examination found tonsil size T3/T3 (40%), the indications dominated by tonsillectomy relative indication (51.82%). Conclusion : Most of Chronic tonsillitis patients with tonsillectomy in department / SMF THT*KL FK Unair*Dr. Soetomo Hospital Surabaya in the periods of January 2011 – Desember 2015 are adolescent, women, pain when swallowing as main complaint, the size T3/T3 of enlarged tonsils and absolute indication.
