Abstract

Background: Based on Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS) in 2015, maternal mortality rate (MMR) in Indonesia is still quite high, which is 305 per 100,000 live births. MMR in Jawa Timur during 2012-2015 is 97.43, 97.39, 93.53, and 89.2 for 100,000 livebirths with the greatest causes is hemorrhage (25.09%, 21.81%, 25.57%, and 25%). One of the hemorrhage that occurs is postpartum hemorrhage. The aim of this study was to determine the profile of postpartum hemorrhage patient at RSUD Dr. Soetomo Surabaya. Methods: This study was a retrospective descriptive research using secondary data. Population of this research was patients of postpartum hemorrhage at RSUD Dr. Soetomo Surabaya from 2015 up to 2016. Sampling method of this research was total sampling. Results: This study has 59 samples. Prevalence of postpartum hemorrhage among total labor in RSUD Dr. Soetomo Surabaya in 2015 – 2016 was 5.4% and the most cases are secondary postpartum hemorrhage. The most common cause of postpartum hemorrhage is tissue disorders, which are placental fragment retention and placental retention. Based on demographical aspect, postpartum hemorrhage is most experienced by 20th – 35th years old patients, housewife, and high school graduates. Based on predisposition factors, postpartum hemorrhage most common in patients with normal vaginal labor, multiparas, patients with single fetus, and patients with 2500 – 4000 grams weight of baby.
