Abstract

Background : Trauma is the most cause of death and disability. In this world, more than 5 million people died caused by trauma in 2002, 90% of which occurre in developing countries. Traffic accidents are one cause of trauma. Deaths from traffic accidents are projected to increase by 83% from 2000 to 2020. The researcher observed the profile of traffic accident victims at Airlangga Hospital Surabaya. Method : This study is cross-sectional. Research sample are gender, age, accident type, RTS, and trauma region in traffic accident victims. Research samples are patients with traffic accident in RSUD dr. Soetomo January 2016 – January 2017. Result : There are 54 samples of traffic accident in the Emergency Room Department RSUA January 2016 – January 2017 Traffic accident was more common in male (63%) than females (37%) with the peak incidence at 30-39 years old (26,1%). Motorcycle was the most common with RTS 7,84type of accident in patients with the percentage of 63%. Limb was the most common region in patients with the percentage of 60,4%. Conclusion : Traffic Accident were mostly happened to males with the peak incidence at 30-39 years old. The most common road user is motor cycle, then region is limb and RTS is 7,84.
