Abstract
The studies of doxycycline and ciprofloxacin resistance in Escherichia coli isolated from layer feces had conducted. Eighty eight isolates are taken from layer chicken farms of seven provinces in Indonesia. In this study antimicrobial susceptibility testing by agar dilution method to find out the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of doxycycline and ciprofloxacin on E. coli isolates. The results show that 32 isolates (36.36%) are resistant, 30 isolates (34.09%) are intermediate and 26 isolates (29.54%) are susceptible to doxycycline. While for ciprofloxacin, 13 isolates (14.77%) are resistant, 10 isolates (11.36%) are intermediate and 65 isolates (73.86%) are susceptible. Based on the results of this study concluded that E. coli isolated from layer feces obtained showed higher resistance level to doxycycline compared with ciprofloxacin.
