Abstract

Background: The number of work related accident and work related disease are still high among the worker. Therefore the correct use of PPE can be used as a way to keep worker’s safety. The objective of this study was to know the factors that affect the use of PPE among workers and to know Methods: This analytic with cross sectional design study involved 90 workers who work on the field in January 2018 and fulfilled the inclusive criteria and exclusive criteria. The data collected using questionnaire and check list. Result: From 90 respondent, there were 85 male respondent (94,44%) and 5 female respondent (5,56%). Most responden are 20-30 years old (43,33%) and graduated from SMA (53,33%). The division that they were mostly in Armada division in Galangan sub-division (66,67%) and most of them already worked for 1-5 years (56,67%). All of them know the right definition of PPE (100%), some of them know the consequences if they did not wear proper PPE (75,56%), all of them know well the benefit from using PPE (100%), but they still did not know the relevant risk or disease that could be acquired if they did not use the right PPE (51,11%). Most of them said that the company already gave them some training about PPE usage (51,11%) and they know that there were a supervision regarding PPE usage (93,33%). More over they also know that there were a sanction system (86,67%) but they said there were no reward system (66,67%). And most of them agree that based on sanction and reward system, it help to motivate them to wear PPE properly (75,56%).
