Abstract

During chemomechanical preparation, there is generally extrusion of irrigating solution from apical foramen which can trigger the inflammatory response and inhibit the healing of periapex tissues. Several irrigation devices have been developed commercially for the irigation of root canal systems using sonic energy and apical negative pressure. Purpose: Analyze the extrusion of irrigant on the tooth with positive and negative pressure irrigation techniques. Method: 27 premolar teeth divided into three groups (Positive Pressure Irrigation Technique Group, Negative Pressure Irrigation Technique Group and Conventional Irrigation Techniques as Control Group). Teeth were preparated using Protaper Next rotary file. Each irrigation techniques groups using 2.5% NaOCl solution and the extrusion solution were collected in the Eppendorf tube containing 0,5ml sterile aquadest sterile, and the turbidity of solution result was showed as the extruded solution. Those three groups of irrigation technique were measured by using Spectrophotometer. Result: The mean result of optical density for each positive pressure irrigation technique group (Eddy system), negative pressure irrigation group (EndoVac system), and control group (Conventional irrigation) is 0.233 Au, 0,109 Au and 0,703 Au. Statistical analysis by using Kruskal Wallis and Mann-Whitney Test was significantly different (p <0.005). Conclusion: There was a significant difference between the groups. The negative pressure irrigation technique (EndoVac system) extruded less of irrigation solutions than positive pressure irrigation technique (Eddy system) and conventional irrigation technique.
