Abstract

The aim of this study is to know the existence of Anisakaidae larvae by morphological identification of third stage larvae and the degree of infection from the grouper fish that sold at Surabaya Pabean Fish Market. The sample that being used in this study were 30 grouper fishes. The fish then sliced open and the third stage larvae were found and collected. The larvae then identified with macroscopic and microscopic examination. From the result of the necropsy, 19 sample were infected by Anisakidae larvae, and the larvae that were found are 69 in total. From 69 larvae, 52 of it have redish-brown color and 17 of it have white color. From morphological identification of third stage larvae, can be identified that the white colored ones were Anisakis sp. The larvae that reddish-brown colored that found were identified as Pseudoterranova sp. The prevalence rate of Anisakidae larvae on grouper fish sold at Surabaya Pabean Fish Market is 63.33% and the degree of infection larvae of parasite from family Anisakidae on grouper fish that sold at Surabaya Pabean Fish Market is 3.6 larvae per fish. The amount and size of the larvae that infecting a host is affected by some factors; age of fish, size of fish, feeding habit, climate, season and geographic condition.
