Abstract

Justicia gendarussa Burm. f. leaves was found to be traditionally used as male contraceptive agent by several ethnic groups in central part of Papua, Indonesia. Previous study showed that J. gendarussa. was found that could be developed as contraceptive medicine. As a traditional medicine J. gendarussa needs a quality control one of them is with metabolite profiling to ensure reproducibility, efficacy, safety, and quality of product. Because of environmental factors, the use of fresh crude drug, age of harvesting, parts that used, harvesting methods, drying, packaging, processing and extraction can affect the quality of traditional medicines and metabolite profiling. The aim of this research was to know metabolite profile of Justicia gendarussa Burm.f leaves from different drying method and from different sites of cultivation by using TLC instrument. Based on multvariate analysis with PCA showed that Justicia gendarussa Burm.f leaves from different drying method and from different sites of cultivation has different metabolite profile.
