Abstract
The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of royal jelly supplementation on ovum of infertile mice (Mus musculus) related to the in vitro fertilization ability. This research is a laboratory experimental research where the experimental animals were used as infertility model. There were 24 female mice, divided into 4 groups consisting of one control group and three treatment groups with six animals in every group. The female mice were injected subcutaneously with 0.025 ml testosterone propionate for 14 days. Infertility indication could be known through vaginal smear, showed by diestrus fase on the mice. After this treatment, the control group was fed with aquadest and the treatment groups were fed with royal jelly. The PI group was fed with a dose of 1.75mg/20gBW/day; P2 group with 3.5mg/20gBW/day and P3 group with 5.25mg/20gBW/day, which were fed per oral for 14 days. The effect of the royal jelly on fertility power of the ovum was observed by In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) after 24 hours incubation. A presence of fertilization was indicated by a growth of ovum, which became zygote. The results showed that control group (PO) and PI group had no zygotes; P2 group had 12 zygotes and P3 group had 27 zygotes. Thus, we concluded that the royal jelly produced significant effect on the fertility power in in vitro fertilization
