Abstract

Back ground: Good pregnancy outcomes were associated with antenatal care visits. Pregnancy planning was one important factor that can influence the behavior of pregnant women to conduct antenatal care visits. In BPS Farida Hajri there were some unplanned pregnancies, inadequate antenatal care visits, asphyxia events, and bleeding. Objective: This study was conducted to determine the association between pregnancy planning with antenatal care visits and pregnancy outcomes in BPS Farida Hajri Surabaya. Method: The study used observational analytics with cross-sectional approached. The study population were 34 maternity mothers who fulfilled the inclusion criteria. The sampling technique was total sampling during January 7 to February 14, 2018. The independent variable was pregnancy planning, the dependent variable were antenatal care visit and pregnancy outcome. The significant level of data was tested by Chi-square (X2) statistical test on significance level α=0.05 and the correlation rate was tested using contingency coefficient (C). Results: The study of 34 respondents found that almost half (41.2%) of the pregnancies was unplanned, (52.9%) inadequate antenatal care and (50%) poor pregnancy outcomes. Chi-Square test results obtained there was association between pregnancy planning with antenatal care visits with p=0.012 (p<0.05) and C=0.395, there was association between pregnancy planning with pregnancy outcome with p=0.037 and C=0.338, and there was association between antenatal care visit with pregnancy outcome with p=0,039 and C=0,333 , with moderate correlation. Conclusion: Pregnancy planning were associated with adequate antenatal care visits and good pregnancy outcome. . This means that every pregnancy should be planned and pregnant women should have adequate antenatal care.
