Abstract
Hypertriglyceridemia or high blood triglyceride levels is one of the lipid fraction disorders associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Flavonoids has an important role as cardioprotection by decreased triglyceride levels. The flavonoids in water clover extract contain 105.8 mg/g. The purpose of this research was to prove that flavonoids can decrease triglyceride levels, increase lipoprotein lipase (LPL) enzyme activity and description of fatty liver after giving clover water extract. This research used an experimental research using Random Design of Complete Random (RAL) Pre-Post Test Control Group Design on white rat (Rattus norvegicus strain Wistar). The samples were selected based on a randomized trial consisting of five groups: positive control (n = 5) was given only a normal diet, a negative control (n = 5) was given only a diet high in fat diet and a group with three doses of water clover extract (n = 15 ) with 28 days of were given 28 high fat diet and water clover extract from 15th day to 28th day. The results of this study showed that there were LPL and triglyceride levels in the high fat diet, first treatment, second treatment, and third treatment before and after treatment were significant (p. < 0.05). Levels of triglyceride can decrease with the lowest dose of water clover extract (16.632 mg/rat/day), LPL enzyme activity can increase with lowest dose (16.632 mg/rat/day), while histopatologic liver cell description has given high fat diet showed in it found a lot of fat degeneration. Giving of water clover extract with the highest dose (66.528 mg/rat/day) can reduce the degeneration of fat. Consumption of water clover for someone as antioxidant will prevent high triglyceride level and occur fatty liver recommend to consume as much as 3,72 g
