Abstract

Background : Preeclampsia still being one of maternal problem that increase morbidity and mortality. Early onset and late onset preeclampsia was divided because they have different etiology, risk factor, symptoms, and outcome, but there weren’t much research about this classification. Objective : To find any different characteristic between early and late onset preeclampsia at Dr. Soetomo General Hospital Surabaya in 2016. Method : This research was an analytic observational study, that used total sampling data of preeclampsia patient in Dr. Soetomo General Hospital Surabaya in 2016. Data was collected from medical record, included maternal data, medical and obstetric history, present pregnancy, diagnosis of preeclampsia, maternal and perinatal outcomes. Result : In maternal data early onset preeclampsia usually happened in nullipara (42,2%) and primigravida (35,6%), mean while in late onset preeclampsia usually in multipara (43,9%) and multigravida (85,4%). History of hypertension was commonly preceded early onset preeclampsia (61,7%), and in present pregnancy early onset preeclampsia were founded having a higher blood pressure, antihypertension treatment (100%), low dose aspirin usage (8,5%). Maternal and perinatal outcomes in early onset preeclampsia showed a longer length of stay (8(3-24) days), preterm birth (97,6%), lower birth weight (1525 (250 – 3400)), lower birth length (41 (30 – 51)), and lower APGAR score – 1 (5(0 – 8)), and APGAR score – 5 (7(0 – 9)). Which in early onset preeclampsia had a poorer outcomes either in maternal or perinatal. Conclusion : There were different characteristics between early and late onset preeclampsia in parity, gravidity, history of hypertension, blood pressure, antihypertension treatment, low dose aspirin usage, length of stay, preterm birth, birth weight, birth length, APGAR score.
