Abstract

Based on the results of internship that has been conducted in SD Muhammadiyah 4 Surabaya from 3 January 3 2018 to 3 February 2018, it could be concluded that the application of PPP method in teaching English for young learner was quite effective, especially in teaching grammar because grammar is one of the most important aspects of learning English. It was effective because PPP has several benefits. First, PPP was easy to prepare before the writer wanted to teach the student in class 5-C, 5-D, 5-E, 5-F, and 5-G. The second, PPP follows three step routine such as presentation, practice, and production. The third, PPP easy for learners to follow type of lesson and to remain focused on material. The last one, the teacher and learners could easily see the progress in learning process in every meeting. To see the student’ progress, the writer always paid attention about student’s score and students’ ability in every meeting. The writer also wrote students’ activities while doing exercise or doing group discussion in classroom every meeting. There were also some obstacles that happened in teaching process. Limited time was the first problem because there are some stages in teaching that could not be performed. Motivation of different students was the second problem because the writer had to make the teaching and the learning activities more innovative and funnier. The last, classroom management is the most challenging problem because the writer had to make classroom atmosphere conducive. By using the PPP method, students' ability in learning grammar could increase. From 178 students, about 90% obtained good score above to average. This shows that applying or continuing teaching using PPP method could help students in learning grammar in English
