Abstract
Introduction: the rapid spread of stigma and discrimination leads to anxiety and prejudice against people living with HIV. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors affecting students’ stigma in people with HIV and AIDS based on Health Belief Modeltheory.Methods: This study was in descriptive correlational study designusing cross-sectional approach. The population was students of SMAN 1 Genteng. The samplesparticipated in this study were 100 respondents based on simple random sampling. The independent variables of this studywere demographic factor (knowledge), health belief (susceptibility, severity, benefit, barrier, and self-efficacy) and perception of threats. The dependent variable was students’ stigma in HIV and AIDS patient. The data were collected using questionnaires. Data was analyzed using multiple regression statistic test with level of significance at 0,05. Results: the results of the analysis show that knowledge has no significant effect on belief (susceptibility (0,787), severity (0,432), benefit (0,485), barrier (0,196), self-efficacy (0,872), belief has no significant effect on the threat (susceptibility (0,536), severity (0,998), benefit (0,128), barrier (0854), self-efficacy (0,859)), the threat has no significant effect on stigma (0.222). Discussion: There is no influence between knowledge with beliefs, beliefs with threats, and threats to stigma.Further research is expected to use a specific measuring instrument to measure variables
