Abstract

Introduction: Caregiver family with schizophrenia will use coping strategy to deal with their stressor related caregiving. Based on studies, differences in using of coping strategies type may produce different quality of life. This study reveals use of coping strategies type may affect their quality of life Methods: This study is cross sectional design with quantitative data. Samples of 222 caregivers family with schizophrenia who visited the psychiatric clinic of RSJ Dr. Radjiman Wediodiningrat Lawang and obtained by using purposive sampling technique. Data Obtained from Ways of Coping questionnaire and Schizophrenia Caregiver Quality of Life Questionnaire were then analyzed by Spearman Rho correlational test Results: The results showed that there was a significant correlation between quality of life with coping strategy (p = 0,00) at significance value 0,05. Correlation coefficient r = - 0.476, indicating that the direction of negative correlation with the moderat strength of the relationship, so it can be concluded that more and more using EFC coping strategy then the quality of life Discussion: The use of appropriate coping strategies for each caregiver family of schizophrenic patients is also recommended using PFC coping strategies because users of EFC coping strategies are more effective at resolving problems with short periods.
