Abstract

Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) or sometimes called degenerative joint disease or degenerative arthritis, is the most common chronic condition of the joints. The burden of osteoarthritis in southeast Asia, is expected to increase in the coming years or in the coming decades. Without sufficient knowledge, to prevent the patient from suffering osteoarthritis still remains challenging. Health seeking behavior for osteoarthritis patient, based on the study that took place in Hong Kong, most of the osteoarthritis patients chose to seek medical assistance late in the course of illness Purpose: To investigate knowledge and awareness with their impact on disease severity and also their health seeking behavior for osteoarthritic patients in Surabaya. Method: This research is an observational analytic study with cross sectional design. This research used an osteoarthritic patient in UPTD Puskesmas Keputih as the subject of this research. This research used Fisher Exact test for the statistical analysis.
