Abstract

The objectives of this study is to analyze the management of health and marketing pattern of beef cattle at smaliholder farmer in Ban gkalan. The results are expected to be used as a basis for improving the management of beef cattle people in Ban gkalan to be better so it can help to achieve national meat self-sufficiency and food security. The study was conducted ¡n Ban gkalan Madura, East Java, using the survey method. Purposive sampling was set for determining the location of the research which is based on the demonstrated potential of the largest number of cattle and value of LQ (Location Quotient) is greater than one (LQ> 1). The result of purposive sampling then determine three (3) sub-districts as potential location of research for the development of beef cattle, namely 81e go, Galls, and Tonah Merah sub-district. The method to determine the respondent ¡s based on quota sampling with 10 respondents from each district. Variables examined included the management of health and marketing beef cattle meat at smallh older former ¡n Ban gkalan. The data obtained were analyzed using correspondence analysis aims to determine whether there is a relationship between variables visually and also be able to see the relationship or closeness of a cate goty ¡n one variable to another variable category. The results showed that for the management of health ¡n Tanah merah and 81e go subdistricts are ¡n good cate goty, while Galls Sub-district is still in sufficient category. The marketing pattern of beef cattle in Tanah Meroh, 81e go, and Galls sub-districts are ¡n good category. Madura cattle ¡n Tan ah Merab, Blega, and Galls sub-districts ore viable, the highest profit earned by farmers in the Blega sub-district.
