Abstract

The objective of this study was to know the effect of mahkota dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa) fruit's extract as antioxidant on regulation of mice lipid profile. The specific objective focused on the decreasing effects of cholesterol total level and cholesterol-LDL level on mice. This research used Completely Randomized Design in 30 male mice on 20-25 gram body weight, which divided into 5 groups and gave 6 times treat repetition. Group of treatment were divided into two parts. First, two groups for control, which contains of negative control (PO-) and positive control (PO+). Negative control is group which given standard feed and water and positive control is group which given high fat feeding and water. Secondly, three groups treated by high fat feeding and mahkota dewa fruit's extract (P1, P2, P3) by orally for five weeks with doses 25, 50, 100 mg/kg body weight, respectively. The blood samples taken by intracardial. The data were analyzed by ANOVA and Duncan's test to compare group. Based on the data analysis, there were a significance differences (p < 0,05) between group. The results of this study showed that there was significant difference in total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol blood levels decreased in on mice with high fat feeding (PO+, P1 and P2), whereas in PO- and P3 group (p>0,05) was no significant. In conclusion, the best effect to decrease total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol blood levels can be achieved by dose of 100 mg/kg body weight Keywords: Extract of mahkota dewa fruit's, Total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol
