Abstract

Introduction: Maternal death is the death of a woman that occurs during pregnancy, during childbirth and within 42 days after giving birth, regardless of the gestational age or place of attachment of the fetus and which is related to or aggravated by pregnancy and its management, not due to an accident. Maternal mortality rates (AKI) in Indonesia alone are quite high at 359 per 100,000 live births (SKDI, 2012).In East Java Province, the city of Surabaya is one of the contributors to the high maternal mortality rate, with the main cause of death being bleeding (Jayanti, 2016). The direct impact that can be experienced due to maternal death is to become the husband of a husband and to become his son's child. The death of a wife is one of the changes in a family institution, where the husband will care for and raise his own children without the help of a partner. The burden of life that should be shared with a partner as a whole family, must now be overcome alone. Being a single parent is not something that is easy to live on, some possibilities that can occur in single parents, one of which is stress. Both stress in childcare, household settings and personal stress. Therefore, a single father thought to decide to remarry after the maternal death.But to remarry, a single father will consider a number of things, one of which is to fund his child. Most single fathers are afraid to remarry because they are worried that their wives will not be able to take care of their children as well as biological mothers. Besides that, the husband's age factor also influences the decision to remarry. Therefore, this study aims to find out how the profile of the husband after 2 years of death of the wife.
