Abstract

The purpose of this research is to evaluate the effect of influenza quadrivalent vaccine that injected to male Wistar rat (Rattus norvegicus) on histopathological changes of lung organ. Twenty male Wistar rat divided into two groups with different treatment and time of necropsy. The treatment consists of the injection of 0,5 ml PBS (Phosphate Buffer Saline) as the control group (T0) and injection of 0,5 ml quadrivalent influenza vaccine as treatment group. The injection of quadrivalent influenza vaccine happen in day 0 and 14 and the rat are euthanized in day 31 as chronic group (T1). Meanwhile, the satelite group (T2) rat are euthanized in day 49. The histopathological feature of the lung was examined by using the modified version of the International Harmonization of Toxicologic Pathology Nomenclature scoring method. The scoring data have been analyzed by Kruskal Wallis Test using SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) application. The result showed that influenza quadrivalent vaccine provides no significant changes in inflammation cells, hemorrhagic, edema, and serous, fibrinous or suppurative intraluminal exudate in bronchioles and alveolar ducts (p>0.05) in rat euthanized in day 31 and 49 and the different time of necropsy process not influenced (p>0.05) the histopathological changes on lung male Wistar rat (Rattus norvegicus).
