Abstract

The determination of the solubility of p-methoxycinnamic acid on varied level of pH has been generated as a pre-conceptualization to perceiving the effect of pH on the solubility of p-methoxycinnamic acid. The outcome of this experiment would subsequently be a scientific foundation for formulating a preparation with the fix amount of pmethoxycinnamic acid. This experiment will be done on pH 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, and 7.0. The saturation time of the p-methoxycinnamic acid being used in this experiment to determine its solubility on several levels of pH is five hours. To determine the solubility of the p-methoxycinnamic acid, observation about the concentration of p-methoxycinnamic acid in several pH levels of buffer solution, using the maximum wavelength of p-methoxycinnamic acid in each solution, is to be carried out in a UV-Visible Spectroscopy. The concentration of dissolved p-methoxycinnamic acid will furthermore be obtained by recording the absorbance of p-methoxycinnamic acid into the linear regression curve of each pH level. The vignette of p-methoxycinnamic acid’s solubility in each pH level indicates the escalation of p-methoxycinnamic acid’s solubility as the pH enhances. There found to be a significant alteration between the solubility of the p-methoxycinnamic acid on pH 5.0, 6.0, and 7.0 from the ANOVA analysis. An incisive escalation of p-methoxycinnamic acid solubility was found occurred on pH 6.0 and 7.0.
