Abstract
The purpose of this research is to add dibuthylaminomethyl group to cardanol by using the principle of Mannich reaction. Cardanol isolated from technical CNSL was reacted with formaline and dibuthylamine in a roundbottom flask in ethanol for 5 days (120 hours). 6-Dibuthylaminomethylcardanol then was purified with column chromatography with hexane : ethylacetate (4 : 1) as mobile phase. Activity test in Pomacea canaliculata (apple snail) was done at room temperature for 24 hours. The concentration of test solution were 0, 150 and 350 ppm. After treatment, not a single head of snail was found dead. So, the lethal concentration of 6- Dibuthylaminomethyl-cardanol is more than 1000 ppm.
