Abstract

The aims of this study was to determine the presence of fungi in green turtle semi natural hatching sands in Meru Betiri National Park Banyuwangi. Isolation and identification of fungi was done to prevent the occurrence of disease transmission to visitors and conservation employee, it also helped government programs in an effort to preserve turtles and their habitat. In addition, it can also be an action to support conservation programs. In this study, 1 gram of sands in 22 green turtle nests hatched were used as the samples. Isolation and identification methode used an observation of macroscopic characteristics of colony growth and microscopic characteristics with staining of lactophenol cotton blue. Based on the results of the study, 3 samples (13.6%) were negative and 19 samples (83.4%) were positive of fungal growth. Several types of fungi that had been found include Aspergillus sp., Cunninghamella sp., Fusarium sp. And Trichoderma sp.
