Abstract

Antibacterial effect of combination of Lactobacilli in milk and guava leaf extract is not yet investigated previously. The purpose of th is study is to determine the profile of the antibacterial effect of combination of Lactobacilli in milk and guava leaf extract. Lactobacilli were used Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus bulgaricus , and Lactobacillus casei , while pathogenic microbes were used Eschericia coli, Salmonella thypimurium, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The method used is agar diffusion method. Combination of the three Lactobacilli have greatest resistance against antibacterial effects of guava leaves ex tract that has been diluted with distilled water until the concentration of 30% v / v (3:7). Combinatio n preparations of Lactobacilli in milk and guava leaf extract 30% v / v produced the greatest antimicrobial effect against bacterial pathogens tested at 5:5 ratio (50% v / v) of the Eschericia coli, Salmonella thypimurium, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa is 17.65 mm; 18, 35 mm; 19.61 mm; 19.46 mm.
