Abstract

The present investigation was designed to determine the influence of Solid Lipid Nanoparticles system ( p !methoxycinnamic acid!cetyl alcohol!Tween 80! propylenglycol) forming in penetration of p !methoxycinnamic acid into Wistar rat skin. Conventional formulations such as p !methoxycinnamic acid incorporated in Carbomer ETD 2020 gel base (Formula I) and p !methoxycinnamic acid prepared in an emulgel dosage form consisted cetyl alcohol, Tween 80 and propylenglicol (Formula II) served for comparison. Penetration of p !methoxycinnamic acid loaded solid lipid nanoparticles was evaluated for 10 hours in PBS pH 7.4 ± 0.05 at 37°C using apparatus 5!paddle overdisk. Several parameters such as flux and membrane permeability were determined by calculating the amount of free drug which penetrates through membrane into penetration medium. Hence, p ! methoxycinnamic acid loaded solid lipid nanoparticles earned the lowest flux and membrane permeability. However, according to the result of statistical analisys there was no significant difference on flux and membrane permeability of each formula with the others.
