Abstract

Amaranthus cruentus L. was done by using in vivo plant that planted in Murashige dan Skoog (MS) liquid media. There were 5 treated groups using Cu2+ ions with various concentr ation, that are 0 ppm (as c ontrol), 25 ppm (P1), 50 ppm (P2), 75 ppm (P3), dan 100 ppm (P4). Each group consist of 25 plants. Observation was done for 22 days. It obs erved the macroscopic changes include leaf color, growth of root and stem, the number of leaf, and also microscopic changes. In the leaf color observation is not found significant differences between the control plants with the the treatment. The results of microscopic observations showed that no tissue damage in the plant with 75 and 100 ppm Cu2+ ions consentration. At the root and stem growth observation obtained that Amaranthus cruentus L. can flourish in the media with 25 to 75 ppm Cu2+ ions consentration and declined in the media with 100 ppm Cu2+ ions consentration. The addition of Cu2+ ions consentration causes a decrease in growth on the Amaranthus cruentus L., so it can be used as early signs of exposure to excess Cu on Amaranthus cruentus L.
