Abstract

he objective of this experiment was preparing a co-processed excipient from mannitol – Kollidon CL – gelatin as a direct compression vehicle for orally disintegrating tablet (ODT). The aim of the present study was to investigate and compare the properties of granules prepared by wet granulation in a fluid bed granulator (FBG). This study focused on the effect of the using 5 % and 10 % Kollidon CL as superdisintegran. Physical characteristics that were observed; size distribution, flow rate, angle of repose, density, percent of compressibility, moisture content, compactibility, disintegration time, potential dilution, and scanning electron microscope. The research revealed that granules prepared by 10% Kollidon CL (F2), yield better result in term of its physical characteristics and a faster disintegration time. Characterization using SEM showed that surface of the granules was not spherical, even though there was no difference between two formulations visually.
