Abstract
Hepatitis C is a major health problem cause liver cirrhosis which can lead to hepatocellular carcinoma and death. The current treatment with interferon plus ribavirin has limited benefits due to its adverse effects and high cost. Natural products provide unlimited opportunities for new drug leads because of its great chemical diversity. In previous study, Ruta angustifolia showed a potential activity against J6/JFH1 on hepatocyte cell Huh7it. In order to continue our study, the 80% ethanol extract was fractionated by a liquid-liquid fractionation using dicloromethane, ethyl acetate, and butanol solvents obtained five fractions. The activity of color="#FF0000">antivirus color="#FF0000">hepatitis C of these five fractions has been tested for their in vitro antiviral color="#FF0000">hepatitis C activity against JFH1a virus. The result demonstrated that the 80% ethanol extract of Ruta angustifolia herbs and fraction of dichloromethana inhibit color="#FF0000">hepatitis C viral with IC50 2,93 ± 0,03 μg/ml, and 1,91 ± 0,59 μg/ml at non toxic concentration. While fraction of ethyl acetate, butanol, and water inhibit color="#FF0000">hepatitis C viral with IC50 > 100 μg/ml.
