Abstract

The aims of this study was to analyzed amiodarone and digoxin utilization in patients diagnozed with arrhythtmia who were hospitalized during January 2012 until December 2012. This study include amiodarone and digoxin’s pattern of therapy in arrhythmia (dose regimentation, route administration), the relation between clinical and laboratory data and therapy arrhythmia especially atrial fibrilasis, the drug related problem include side effects and interaction of amiodarone, digoxin, combination amiodarone-digoxin, and other drugs of therapy. This study used descriptive analysis by using retrospective data from medical record patients which is sampling by time limited sampling. The results showed that 31 patients was 51,61% female and 48.39% male. Distribution of ages was 51.61% for patients with < 65 years old, 38.71% for patients with 65-75 years old, and 9.68% for patients with >75 years old. Monotherapy amiodarone used by 40.63% patients, digoxin used by 37.5% patients, and combination amiodarone-digoxin are used by 21.87% patients. Another drug’s pattern of therapy was unknown because another drug’s data in medical record patient was not complete. There is one actual side effect of 2 patients who received amiodarone. They got bradicardy after administration amiodarone intravena. There is no actual interaction of amiodarone, digoxin, and combination amiodarone-digoxin but potential interaction with other drugs.
