Abstract

BACKGROUND. Open fracture including surgical emergency that often leads to complications such as infection, gangrene, tetanus, and sepsis. Also defined as the loss of bone continuity with infection chance by microorganism. These infections are difficult to treat and regard to high rate of morbidity and mortality, and require therapy of antibiotic. OBJECTIVES. The purpose of this study is to analyze the profile use of antibiotic received in open fracture patient. SUBJECTS. A retrospective methods with descriptive in January 1st 2010 until July 31st 2012 periode who diagnosed open fracture. RESULTS ANA CONCLUTION. The 100% commonly used prophylactic antibiotic is ceftriaxon. Moreover 48,7% patients received ceftriaxon as empiric antibiotic. The duration of empiricantibiotic adminsitration commonly in 1-4 days in 35 patients. Patients don’t had a microbiological data, and don’t receive the definitive antibiotic in this study. This study found that there are kinds of DRPs respectively inapropriate indication for antibiotic therapy, patients don’t receive proper antibiotic based on culture, inroper dossage regimentation, and wrong selection for prophilactic antibiotic.
