Abstract
Knowing what translation methods and strategies that should be used in translating guidebooks is important because not all translation methods and strategies can be used in translating guidebooks. Using wrong translation method or strategy can really make the result of translation become different with what the translation result was supposed to be. The writer found out there were translation methods used in translating guidebooks in Tourism Office of Yogyakarta City; they were literal translation, word-for-word translation, and free translation. Furthermore, the writer found out there were three translation strategies used in translating guidebooks in Tourism Office of Yogyakarta City; they were borrowing, transposition, and adaptation. These translation methods and strategies helped the writer in translating sentences from source language structure into target language structure.
