Abstract
Garasutenjo or the glass ceiling is a phenomenon the existence of barrier glass that limits rise of women to the highest ladders of the company. Based on results AOL Jobs survey proves that one in six women has get discriminations in the workplace likes differences in salaries with male employees, performance less appreciated, and difficulty of getting promotion. The phenomenon of garasutenjo also reflected in a drama titled Chef: Mitsuboshi no Kyushoku that tells the story of Mitsuko who experience various obstacles in her career as a three-star chef. The activities of cooking that are generally carried out by women as unpaid labor has contradictions with the activity of cooking as a chef (paid labor) which are mostly done by men, making women encounter a variety of difficulties while in it, so researchers are interested to researching "how is garasutenjo in japan in the drama Chef: Mitsuboshi no Kyushoku?". This qualitative research used female underrepresentation theory to examine the scarcity of women in the field of leadership. The results of this study are the Mitsuko experience the phenomenon of garasutenjo such as a very patriarchal chef world, the presence of gender bias, the existence of a sex division of labor, and the supposition that take care of the family is the woman's responsibility.
