Abstract
This study aims to find out the effect of katuk leaf chlorophyll photosensitizer (Sauropus androgynus (L) Merr) on the effectiveness of diode laser exposure and laser irradiation energy density which is effective to reduce the Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans and Enterococcus faecalis biofilms. The light source used are a diode laser with wavelengths (401.40 ± 0.01) nm and (659.80 ± 0,00001) nm with the magnitude of power respectively (2.50 ± 1.71 x 10-9) mW and ( 3.97 ± 1.35 x 10-9) mW. The study was conducted by adding chlorophyll photosensitizer and using 4 variations in energy density using an exposure distance of (1.00 ± 0.05) cm perpendicular to the target. The method used is the ELISA test to calculate OD values and fluorescence tests to determine morphological cell death. There are four types of groups, namely two control groups (without chlorophyll and with chlorophyll) and two treatment groups (without chlorophyll and with chlorophyll). SPSS 21 statistical test shows that the influence of the addition of chlorophyll photosensitizer and laser radiation energy density to bacterial death in biofilms. At a energy density of 10 J/cm2, the optimal bacterial mortality rate was obtained in each treatment group. Namely, in the Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans biofilm the negative group the number of deaths was 73.30% using a blue diode laser and 63.25% using a red diode laser, and in the positive group the number of deaths was 86.12% using a blue diode laser and 83.29 by using a red diode laser. In the Enterococcus faecalis biofilm the negative group the number of deaths was 67.78% using the blue diode laser and 75.33% using the red diode laser, and in the positive group the number of deaths was 71.71% using the blue diode laser and 86.41 with using a red diode laser.
