Abstract
Masalah optimasi adalah masalah untuk menemukan nilai optimum (maksimum atau minimum) dari suatu fungsi. Pada skripsi ini, suatu permasalahan optimasi fungsional akan diselesaikan menggunakan persamaan Euler-Lagrange. Syarat perlu yang harus dipenuhi agar fungsional optimum adalah turunan parsial pertama dari fungsi tujuan terhadap semua variabelnya bernilai nol. Berdasarkan hasil pembahasan diperoleh optimasi fungsional dari kurva jarak terpendek antara dua titik, masalah Brachistochrone, dan prinsip Fermat.
