This study discusses the childhood trauma caused by sexual abuse that resulted in unwanted feelings such as, anxiety, low self-esteem, fear of betrayal, fear of abandonment and defense mechanism of Marayo as the main character of the novel. This study centers its analysis on the impacts of childhood trauma that affect her personality and behaviours when she becomes an adult woman. Marayo as the victim experienced many feelings that made her uncomfortable after the sexual abuse directed at her. This study uses a psychoanalysis theory by Sigmund Freud that related to the childhood trauma, anxiety and its core issues.
