Abstract

Background: BPH is an enlarged prostate volume (VP) that often occurs in men, usually starting at the age of 40 years. BPH patients will come with LUTS complaints consisting of symptoms of irritation and obstruction. Uroflowmetry is used to determine whether there is a blockage in the flow of urine. The parameters used are the maximum flow rate (Qmax), voided volume (Vvoid), and post void residual (PVR) urine. The severity of LUTS can be scoring by International Prostatic Symptom Score (IPSS) which is the most common PROM to treat the problem of urethral constriction. Objective: To find the correlation of prostate volume with Uroflowmetri and IPSS in BPH patients without urinary retention to be performed at Dr. Soetomo 2015- 2017 Methods: This study is a descriptive study using secondary data from medical records to determine the relationship of prostate volume with Uroflowmetri and IPSS in BPH patients without urine retention. The sampling technique uses total sampling method. Research subjects were 86 data from 2015-2017. Variables: prostate volume, uroflowmetry, and IPSS. Results: from 86 medical records of BPH patients, the age range 45-64th: 52 people (60.46%), and the age range >65th: 34 people (39.54%). The VP statistical test with Qmax (r = 0.012; p = 0.913), the correlation was not significant. VP with Vvoid (r = 0.112; p = 0.305), the correlation is not significant. VP with PVR (r = -0.015; p = 0.892), the correlation was not significant. VP with IPSS (r = 0.048; p = 0.660), the correlation is not significant. Conclusion: no correlation between prostate volume with uroflowmetry and IPSS in BPH patients without urinary retention.
