Abstract
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a disease caused by novel coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2. This virus has infected many countries and spread rapidly around the world. However, there is no spesific drugs to treat COVID-19. One of the most used therapies for COVID-19 is antiviral, including oseltamivir. In recent, administration of oseltamivir to treat COVID-19 is still debating. This antiviral is widely used in several countries including Indonesia. Oseltamivir acts on the neuraminidase, but SARS-CoV-2 does not have those enzyme so this antiviral may not have a role in treating COVID-19. The aim of this narrative review was to assess the roles of oseltamivir therapy on cure rate in pastients with COVID-19. From the databases (PubMed, CINAHL, and Scopus) with key word COVI D-19 ORcoronavirus disease-19 OR COVID19 OR 2019 novel coronavirus infection AND Oseltamivir, 26 articles were extracted and studied further. The result showed that the cure rate post oseltamivir therapy is higher in asymptommatic patients, patients with mild symptoms, and patients with no comorbidities. But the cure rate was lower in elderly patients. However, these result have several limitation such as the administration of another potential drugs and no spesific article of oseltamivir.
