Abstract
Introduction: Elderly improves cognitive and fine motor skills. This has an impact on the disruption of physical mobility and functional activities so as to make ADL. Efforts to improve cognitive function and fine motor skills in the elderly are given domino intervention by the gaple method. This study discusses the domino card game with the gaple method to improve cognitive function and fine motor skills in the elderly at Griya Werdha Surabaya. Methods: The design of this study was quasy-experiment design study of all the elderly in Griya Werdha Surabaya and Griya Hargo Dedali and each sample of 32 respondents who fit the inclusion criteria. The technique is taken using simple purposive sampling. The independent variable in this study is a domino card game with a gaple method. The dependent variable in this study is cognitive function and fine motor skills. Data was collected using the MMSE (Mini State Examination) questionnaire and using the ability to button up and collect coins. Data analysis used the rank test marked Wilcoxon and mann whitney (α≤0,05). Results: The results showed that there was a domino card game with a gaple method on cognitive improvement (p = 0,000) and fine motor skills (p = 0,000) Discussion: Domino card games with a smooth gaple related method in the elderly, then it could be used as a non-pharmacological alternative therapy to improve the cognitive function of the elderly who live in homes.
