Abstract
Language learning is a dynamic, time-consuming process requiring dedication, persistence, and hard work. The learners needed to cultivate sophisticated grammar and vocabulary rules, communicative skills, comprehension of spoken and written language, and self-representation approaches. This study's objective was to explore foreign language-speaking anxieties among Bahasa Indonesia learners at the BIPA program in the Universitas Airlangga (Unair). To achieve this aim, a mixed-method approach was used by implementing a questionnaire, interviews, and observation. A total of 31 Bahasa Indonesia learners in the BIPA class participated in this study. The analysis was found that speaking anxiety levels in the Bahasa Indonesia as foreign language context are moderate. The reasons behind the Bahasa Indonesia learner's speaking anxiety are linguistic difficulties, fear of negative evaluation, oral exam, speaking activities, and high self-Expectation. Whereas ten strategies to decrease foreign language speaking anxiety in the Bahasa Indonesia context are found in this work.
