Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of diction and language style in the lyrics of songs by Persebaya supporters. The lyrics of the song by Persebaya supporters are interesting to study because of the creativity in language. Creativity in making changes in language practice, supporters try to keep in touch with various emotions, to express their feelings. The form of creativity of Persebaya supporters in conveying their support and expressing their feelings is that they created several songs to ignite the spirit of the players and the spirit of fellow supporters when the match was in progress. Persebaya song lyrics contain ideology, messages, and complaints from Bonek as a supporter. The message conveyed in the lyrics of the Persebaya song has a tremendous effect on the mentality of both supporters and opponents. The form of analysis of this research is to show the use of diction and language style. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were carried out by listening techniques, recording techniques, and note-taking techniques. The purposes of this study are (1) to describe the use of diction in the lyrics of Persebaya supporters' songs and (2) to describe the use of language style in the lyrics of Persebaya supporters' songs. The results obtained from this study are that in each song lyrics, diction and language style are found that aim to express aesthetic beauty and express ideas for supporters.
